I have the first of two weddings this weekend, and I still have no suit to wear. I'd kept putting it off fir a while and now I'm scrambling. Rather than buy one I'm going to see about renting one. I've never rented one before, so I hope it'll be easy enough to find one that fits me without taking me to the cleaners. =\ I tried to go to a place near work but should've called ahead to find out they're closed on Wednesdays. Grr. Today's my last chance or else I bow out of the wedding...or go to the hotel and hope I can find something tomorrow nite.
I have the thoroughly annoying habit of downloading anything I find interesting off the net and just letting it sit on my hard drive. I try to sort the stuff out but end up getting easily distracted so much so that it's usually time for me to head to bed. For some reason, it's always in the back of my mind. Is that OCD?
Still no contact between me and my sister and mother. The holidays will be interesting to say the least.
I did try my first paleo recipe, chocolate covered almond butter balls. They looked ok, but tasted even better. I kept feeling guilty every time I ate one. I'm going to try a pumpkin bread recipe I found online too.
Maybe it's the changing seasons, maybe I still have car lag from driving 300 miles round trip and working 14 hours, but I feel so tired and blah. It could also be my body still trying to find some balance with my huge weight loss. I do take vitamins regularly and I don't starve myself (I appreciate the fact I'm wearing size 32-33) jeans. Next month I have my yearly physical so hopefully that will give me some idea of what I need to do.
I've already got the Halloween decorations up, at home as well as at work (in which I'm the only one in the dept with any decorations). I can't take any pics of my desk but it's pretty much lights: a pumpkin lantern and a chain of pumpkins that flash.
Guess that's all for now...

I'm liking this show...supposedly it bridges what happened when Clu took over and I think right up to the beginning of the sequel movie.
Still...some questions remain: We know Tron was corrupted by Clu and became Rinzler, so does this happen later in the series? Or worse, is Tron already converted and he's stringing Beck along? Oooh, that would be nasty! =)
We'll see how this series shapes up...
Is it me or are movie trailers showing more and more footage, so that, in essence, you get the feel of the film just from watching all previews?
I watched every trailer for 'Prometheus' ever since the first one came out and I think I've already pieced together the basic plot line, if not the whole story.
As a possible massive spoiler, I saw a video these guys made where they pasted together all the scenes from the trailers and pretty much guessed the plot. Now, I wasn't exactly surprised but still, I've just noticed how trailers for other movies just 'give away' too much plot material, especially scenes which could have been saved to surprise the audience.
Just a thought...
I found out a...well, not exactly friend, but an acquaintance of mine who works at the post office passed away recently from ovarian cancer. I had a bad feeling when I waited in line and saw a framed picture of her with the other cashiers. She was 46 and has a 6 year old kid and husband. She was pretty funny and we joked over the years when I'd stop by to mail letters, packages, etc. I was told she'd been battling it with chemo for a while, it went away briefly, but came right back with a vengeance.
I still can't quite believe it...
Other than that, my dad called from Argentina and told me he thinks his mom has a Alzheimers really bad. Though, i got the impression he was mistaking that with an aneurism. He won't know more until he takes her to a specialist...
If it ain't one thing, it's another...

We here in New England look to be getting pounded with our first Winter (Fall?) Snow Storm. Since Monday is Halloween and looks like we might be getting snow, I couldn't help making this up:|
"I'm dreaming of a white Halloween
Not like the ones I used to know
Where the pumpkins glisten,
and children listen
To hear slay'd belles in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Halloween
With every Samhain card I write
May your days be bloody with fright
And may all your Halloweens be white..."
-Dedicated to all us New Englanders who're about to get pounded with snow!
Yeah, too much time on my hands =)

I recently had a blood test done, since it was 6 months ago where I started taking meds for my elevated uric acid levels...and, thankfully, my levels have dropped 20 percent. Thing is, I got to keep taking the meds for the rest of my life. *sigh*|
I'd also told my doc about the times I'd wake up in cold sweat and wondered what that could be. He mentioned that it could be a number of possibilities: cancer in some glands, a messed up hypothalamus, diabetes...or just too many blankets on my bed. =/
The doc had my blood retested and ultimately found nothing wrong. So I guess the blankets won out. =)
With the holidays here, it's getting harder to resist the cakes, cookies, etc. people are bringing in. I can feel the pounds added in...yuck...

Yeah, I know it's been close to two weeks but I wanted to show some photos from the 'con...|
It's been almost 8 years since the last time I went to a convention (the last one was the Star Wars Celebration for AoTC) and a friend of mine had told me about his one, but was on the fence about going or not. Two days before going, my friend texts me and says he got a free ticket that another friend of his couldn't use since he couldn't go, so he offered it to me. What the hell, I thought. We took a train early Saturday morning and walked from Grand Central to the Javitts Center.
Less than a block from the center, my friend and I walk across a street...and there was Stan Lee himself, talking to some fans! Stupid me, I hadn't taken out my camera yet, and by the time I did, the Man himself had walked into the center. Oh well. =)
The first sight I had when I stepped in...the sheer amount of geekage could've powered the Center! =)
Optimus Prime, watching over a sea of nerds!
Tonia Stark(?), complete with Arc Reactor!
There was an area exclusive to the upcoming Old Republic MMO coming from Bioware. The main antagonist is Darth Malgus, whose status was at the start of the line...
The Crazy 88's from Kill Bill! No Bill or Kiddo present though...
There was even an Abby from NCIS!
This was awesome: a female Ashe!
I think she likes me!
What a cutie!
Mr. and Mrs. Green Latern, I presume?
Cute K9 purse...
And, of course, the ubiquitous 'Slave Leia'...seriously, they were EVERYWHERE!
Overall, I had a good time, although i stuck with the main floor and didn't see any of the panels, discussions, etc. Only towards the end did the place get VERY packed. So much so, it was hard to move around.
Maybe next year I'll go again. =)

Well, I'm glad that's over...|
In case you didn't know, Hurricane Irene walloped into the East Coast and totally knocked power for millions of people. Here in Connecticut, the damage wasn't that bad, but enough so that more than a few trees fell down on power lines. I caught a few on camera and posted one on my FB page.
Power went out on Sunday early morning. I knew something was up when I woke up and wondered why my fan had stopped working and why I couldn't see the time on my ipod radio clock.
When I'd gotten out of bed, i found that all of Branford, as well as a good portion of the state, was out of juice. One tree the night before had fallen on the other side of the complex and slammed into 3 cars. I remember now waking up to the sound of a chainsaw...
The next few days I wouldn't exactly call hell. Luckily, the weather was very nice, especially at night, so we had no worries about sweating our butts off. Although there was no electricity, my dad did have the presence of mind to charge up a battery, so we had a way of charging up our cellphones, which were our only way of communicating with the rest of the world.
Even though I do spend a lot of time in front of the computer, I honestly didn't flip out from the lack of it for the days where everything was dark. I actually had time to do some cleaning as well as take care of some paperwork that had been lying around (done under flashlight, of course).
My dad, however, really felt out of it. He really missed his TV, internet, as well as how the fridge and downstairs freezer were getting full of bad food. I told him we were better off than most people who'd lost a lot more from the hurricane. He heard me, but I don't think he really listened.
It got so bad that half-way through the outage, I'd been smelling the milk before trying it and could just start to smell it going bad. My dad was there, noticed my expression and, in what could only be a fit of extreme annoyance, grabbed and carton and drank from it fully into his mouth.
I mentally rolled my eyes, not quite wanting to tell him how dirty the human mouth is....
All that finally came to an end last nite when the power came on at about 5pm. I'd noticed traffic lights working and only thought the local areas had gotten power, but when i heard my dad's 52in LCD tv blaring away, I knew all was right with at least part of the world...=)
From what I've heard in the news we had some shakeup around out parts? (pun intended)|
Seriously, I felt nothing around the time I heard we'd gotten hit by an earthquake...lol, I guess I was too focused on upgrading a user's PC.
Hell, the world could end and I'd just raise my hand and say, 'Hang on, I'm backing this guy's data...'
